Pewter's Mission....Never Give Up

Every Wobble Deserves Another Step

At first glance, Pewter seemed just like any other playful kitten.

He arrived at Cat's Cradle with his siblings from a local shelter. They were tiny, adorable, and ready for a fresh start. Like many kittens who come through our program, Pewter appeared healthy and happy. We expected his biggest challenge would be finding the perfect family.

Then everything changed.

Over a short period of time, Pewter began showing alarming neurological symptoms. His head tilted dramatically to one side. He lost the use of his right leg. He struggled with balance and coordination. Watching him try to walk was heartbreaking.

Despite everything his little body was going through, Pewter never stopped trying.

He would wobble and stumble, then pick himself back up and try again. His determination was remarkable. Even on his hardest days, his sweet spirit shined through.

After extensive veterinary evaluations, the most likely diagnosis became clear: Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). Veterinarians believe Pewter's illness likely began as Dry FIP before progressing into Neurological FIP, one of the most serious forms of the disease.

Not long ago, an FIP diagnosis was considered a death sentence for many cats.

Today, thanks to advances in treatment, there is hope.

Cat's Cradle was able to move quickly and begin administering life-saving FIP medication. The road to recovery wasn't easy, but Pewter responded beautifully to treatment.

And now? Check out this video of Pewter walking! Pewter Walking!

The difference is nothing short of amazing.

The kitten who once struggled to stand is now running, playing, exploring, and enjoying life the way every kitten should. His head tilt has improved dramatically, his mobility has returned, and his personality is shining brighter than ever.

When you watch Pewter today, it's hard to believe how far he's come.

Stories like Pewter's are why Cat's Cradle exists.

Every year, we help thousands of cats and kittens through rescue, foster care, adoption, spay/neuter programs, and critical medical interventions. Sometimes that means providing routine care. Other times, it means saying "yes" when a kitten needs extraordinary treatment and a chance to survive.

Pewter's recovery was made possible because compassionate supporters like you believe every cat deserves that chance.

When you donate to Cat's Cradle, you're helping kittens like Pewter receive the medical care they need, no matter how challenging the diagnosis may be.

Because every wobble deserves another step, and yes Pewter wobbles, but he can now manage the stairs! Watch Pewter: Pewter coming down the stairs!

Every kitten deserves hope.

And every Pewter deserves a chance to write a happy ending.
